چکیده

Solid coconut waste was produced after coconut milk extraction process and may still contain up to 24 wt.% oil content. In this work, extraction of oil from coconut waste using batch and soxhlet extractor was studied. Effect of particle size diameter, type of solvent and solvent to solid ratio on the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters; entropy, enthalpy and free energy of extraction were investigated. The maximum oil yields for soxhlet and batch reactor were 23.6% at 80 !C and 21.9% at 65 !C, respectively for particle size diameter <0.5 mm when hexane was used as solvent. The kinetic of coconut waste oil extraction was found to be a first order mass transfer model. The DG, DS and DH values were 10.94–13.35 kJ/mol, 33.10–39.57 J/mol K and 0.12–1.25 kJ/mol, respectively shows that the extraction process was spontaneous, irreversible and endothermic based on thermodynamic parameters. Reactive extraction of solid coconut waste to produce biodiesel

Biodiesel is an alternative diesel fuel produced using transesterification method where edible or non edible oil and alcohol reacts in the presence of catalyst. Biodiesel is expensive than fossil fuels because of higher raw material and production costs. Solid coconut waste is an alternative raw material from waste and suitable for biodiesel production to lower the production cost. Solid coconu...

Optimization and Purification of Lipase through Solid State Fermentation by Bacillus Cereus Msu as Isolated from the Gut of a Marine Fish Sardinella Longiceps

A lipase producing bacterium, Bacillus cereus MSU AS was isolated from the gut of a marine fish Sardinella longiceps. In total, seven agricultural waste substrates (coconut oil cake, neem oil cake, onion skin waste, wheat bran, jack fruit waste, banana skin peels and pomegranate skin peel) were selected for solid state production of lipase by B. cereus MSU AS. Among the tested substrates, onion...

Cellulase production by Aspergillus niger under solid state fermentation using agro industrial wastes

The aim of the present work was focused on the cellulase production by Aspergillus niger using different substrates (i.e) rice bran, wheat bran, black gram bran, coconut oil cake, groundnut oil cake, and gingely oil cake. Solid state fermentation holds tremendous potentials for the production of the enzyme cellulase by Aspergillus niger. These agro industrial residues are cheap raw materials fo...

Coupling Microwave-Assisted Drying and Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Extraction for Coconut Oil Processing

Supercritical carbon dioxide extraction was applied to the processing of virgin coconut oil (VCNO), which has been known to possess several functions such as antimicrobial properties as proven by many medical doctors and clinical researchers. Prior to extraction, the sample was dried using microwave-assisted low-temperature air drying method. Using these techniques, an oil recovery of 95% was o...

Removal of Ni(ii) form water by agricultural waste: Oil removed coconut residues

Activated carbon prepared form coconut residues (CORC), and agricultural waste byproduct obtained after oil extraction was used for the adsorption of Ni(II) form aqueous solution. The process of uptake obeys both Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption isotherms. Kinetic studies indicate that it obeys Lagergram kinetic model. Quantitative removal of Ni(II) from 100mL aqueous solution containing 10mg...
